HaPPy HalLoWeEniE....

Boden's pumpkin..... Barrett's pumpkin....
I've got LOTS of cute pics of the boys, dressed up, pumpkin patches, carving pumpkins..BUT I'm still in the process of putting the final touches on Boden's costume today, yes that's right it IS Halloween TODAY...nothing like waiting until the last minute!!! But I had to do a post about our pumpkin catastrophe...

When you have a 15 month old, a 4 year old AND a 5 1/2 year old..carving pumpkins actually means: Mommy draws the face and Daddy carves..they won't even put their hands in the pumpkin gunk..and they are boys..what is wrong with them?? Well, actually Boden dived right in..

We usually put our pumpkins on the front porch, but this year we decided to just leave them in our outdoor living area, where we always carve them...BAD IDEA...The next morning, I went outside to play with Boden and I about had a heart ache...Somebody or should I say something ate Brandt's face off!!! Not him, (he was at school) but his pumpkin..The animal chopped out the eyes, nose, and mouth, leaving only the outline of where these parts USE to be...

I thought all day, how I was going to break the news to Brandt..He's one of those kids, that things have to be PERFECT and when something is NOT, Watch out, he doesn't handle those situations very well.. Later that day when I picked up Barrett from Preschool, I even prepped him, starting out by saying "I have some bad news...." Told him what had happened...His reply "He is going to Freak Mom"....Great...can't wait until he gets home on the bus...

So he did, I again started out by saying "Brandt, I have some bad news sweetie..." told him what had happened, and of course I ended it with "It's really no big deal, I got a back up pumpkin, that we can carve right after dinner"...he raced to the back, swings open the back door, RUNS to look at his pumpkin, I'm holding my breathe..."MOM, THAT IS THE COOLEST PUMPKIN EVER, IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA!!!" (Yes, he's in kindergarten!) I LOVE it and I LOVE the animal that did this!!! My heart started beating again, What did I just hear?..are you kidding me??..I started to breathe again.."Yes, sweetie it does, and I bet YOU are the ONLY one in the whole wide world that has a pumpkin carved like AFRICA!!"...

WOW, what a relief, and how creative without having to think about being creative!!...So the pictures that you see at the top, are our pumpkins this year, Africa and all....
