Costa Rica
Well our Spring break really started 2 weeks ago...Daddy surprised us by having a limo pick us up at the house with our 8 bags, 6 carry on items, and stroller... at 6am (got up at 4am to shower, finish packing etc). We arrived the recommended 2 hours early, due to all the Spring break travelers..Everything was rolling along just fine, we were to meet our good friends, the Wells family at Longboat Key in Florida as well as Grandma and pa B.. We were all loaded on the plane, the boys were so excited and then we here IT, the engines shut down. The pilot comes over the loud speaker to tell us that due to the weather in Dallas, the airport had been shut down, temporarily. We sat on the tarmac for 2 hrs until they finally unloaded us all. They told us to just hang tight better to wait inside than on the plane for an unsure amount of time...we waited, and waited and waited, they were cancelling flights all around us but assured us that since our plan was here and ready to go it would just be a matter of time until the weather cleared.. Luckily, the boys were pretty good. We've travelled so much before that I know some "tricks"..I always bring "special" snacks (stuff they don't get at home) and ALL new toys, coloring books, markers, paint books, books and movies. plus you got to remember the blankies, "babies", and froggie to make them feel at home...so they were pretty much entertained the entire day...but around 1:00 when the pilot told us that... sure enough, they were cancelling the flight, I've never seen Brandt more disappointed. He was so upset he wasn't going to see his friends...To rap up a long and boring story, we did get on another airline (after being on hold for 2 hrs) and waited through all the Spring break traffic again, rechecked, etc..and THAT flight was cancelled!!!!! All flights the next 2 days were booked on all airlines (Spring break) So, we loaded our very disappointed little boys, our 8 bags, our 6 carry ons (less all of our snacks) and the stroller into a taxi and we got home around 6pm.....nice hugh...
The boy's 1st limo ride...they loved all the tvs and the lights that changed colors!!!! We were mentally and psychically exhausted when we got home....We did quick baths etc and once the boys were down, Scott and I got on the computer to see if we could possibly book something asap..as it was the perfect time for us to vacation (Scott's new job starts April 1st) and hello, I've been packing and organizing for our trip for weeks!!! We found this sight, Book it, (highly recommend) and talked to a wonderful guy, Troy, that helped us book a trip to Costa Rica within a couple of days...And that is how our last minute trip came about.....It was a wonderful, bonding experience that we'll always remember and it was worth all the heart ache to get there!!!!
Costa Rica 2008
Brandt chillin' on the beach, notice the pineapple on his fruity drink.....
Barrett LOVED the pool, he's our dare devil, jumping off the sides of the pools. He's our No fear kid...
There were mango trees and papaya trees everywhere around our hotel and the iguana and other animals would just come and eat the ones of the ground that had fallin'. We actually saw the housekeepers reach up and pick the fruit off at snack time. I was to afraid to do that as I didn't want to get diarrhea or something worse!!The boys were so cute, Brandt called the hotel : A hoe "n" tell and then Barrett would call it a show "n" tell, we got such a kick out of that...The grounds where we stayed were probably the most beautiful I've ever been to. There were just a ton of the coolest looking trees, plants, and flowers..a true landscapers paradise!!!
Daddy catchin' a wave.....

Brandt playing in the ocean

Barrett checking out the beach, and the surf....The beach was one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to. There are a ton of volcanoes in Costa Rica, so there are lots of rocks that were formed from the lava and its' just spectacular.....

The cool thing about the "sand" on the beach, is that it's not really the typical "sand" we're use to but it's a bunch of small shells that make up the beach..it was just awesome..it felt so cool to walk on it and so nice not having sand in everything....
Ok, the boys did get a little spoiled while we were there. Everyday that had to swim up to the swim up bar and get a Pina Colada (virgin of course) they thought they were hot stuff...and they were yummy ..The boys did so great. At night we would take them to pretty fancy places to eat and for the most part it was pretty enjoyable...There are so many people that won't do stuff like that, and we're not like that. Scott and I have been so fortunate and I knew that once we had kids, I wanted to be the parent that fits your kids into your lifestyle and for the most part we've done just that...now don't get me wrong, there are limits and things I won't do with kids but if we are on vacation experiences things, why can't they? I think a well rounded kid makes a well rounded adult...We took them out for sushi, they had noodles and chicken with dipping sauce..beats peanut butter and jelly, hugh? They loved it!!!
These painted ox carts are well known down there. They are so bright and festive, I just love them...I wanted to bring one back for our outdoor living but the expense to ship it would of been more than the cart...They have really expensive taxes too, when something leaves their country..
Brandt and Mama at the swim up bar, after our daily virgin Pina Colada....This swim suit of mine has little beads all over it and the boys call it my "sprinkle" swimsuit!! Too cute
The Tucan bird is the signature bird of Costa Rica..they are everywhere..This one was at an animal resue park we took the boys to...Another great sign were the monkeys in the trees, the boys loved looking for them, they would just swing from branch to branch and eat the fruit that grew in the trees....

I took a ton of pictures, imagine that..I'll post more in a slideshow as it's really a lush beautiful country and it was all in all a wonderful family vacation...

I'm lucky....
I didn't get to wish you a Happy St. Patty's day....
We were busy playing with Bella and packing for our Spring Break trip....
But, The shirt says it all...My boys are my lucky charms..and I'm even more lucky to be their Mommy....

Brandt: Age 4 I guess you just can't miss the ice-cream sandwich stains from Brandt's "treat" he just had, hugh? Remember, we have stock in spray n wash.....
Baby Bella
This is how we spent our St. Patty's day...we welcomed a new addition to our family!! Baby Bella, or as I call her Baby Belly...she's a doll baby and so so sweet...!!! We opted to get a girl baby kitty as the breeder was coming down to Texas on her Spring Break and we didn't have to wait until April to get a kitty, so it was a nice surprise for the boys.....I thought about calling her Patti as we got her on St. Patty's day, but I just couldn't do it. I looked at all the small towns in Texas as I drove to pick her up, but nothing seemed "right". So, Bella has actually been our baby girl name forever (Brandt was going to be named Bella, if he would of been a girl) BUT now that the birth of our baby is getting closer, we've switched to a more "stronger" girl name..( we'll see if we get to use it or not in about 4 more months or so!!!!) So, we thought we'd call her Bella, cause she just looked like a Bella to us.....
Barrett playing with Bella. They aren't exactly her favorite thing right now, but the kids were so excited to see her...
We painted rocks and added Bella to our pile.........
You can kind of see how tiny she is..she's only 10 weeks old and just darling....She's smaller than our remote control!!!

Egg-o-rific!!!
We've had a great start to our Spring Break weekend so far. We opened up our pool with a 96 degree day yesterday. The water was a little chilly but it sure felt great when the kids splashed us!! We all got a jump start to our Spring Break tans, or burns if you want to be precise!! We had a wonderful dinner at Kirby's. We went out to celebrate Scott's new job with our bestest friends, Tami and Ryan and had a wonderful night as always!!! Fantastic food and friends!!
While Scott was napping ( one two many margarita's I think) the kids and I colored Easter eggs, which is always fun with a 3 and 4 yr old. Despite the extra precautions we took, Barrett still managed to paint my leg green and of course he looked like he stuck his hands into a can of rainbow paint!!

Happenin' Hip Hoppers
The boys both had Easter celebrations at school this week. Brandt had his first, then Barrett the next day. They were very good mannered and shared each others eggs each day. They are really starting to play well together and share well, although Barrett is a little better at sharing these days....
First signs of Spring...Our flowers on the front porch attracted a butterfly
Early Egg Hunt
We had an early Easter egg hunt last weekend over at Texas Omie and Happy's house as it was a good day that all the cousins were available with work schedules, etc...The kids had a blast and it was so fun watching how competitive they can be..Currently there are 4 boys and 1 girl, ages 4 and under, with 2 babies on the way..ours is due the end of July and Kimber's baby is due Oct..HELP!! It's crazy but so much FUN!!
Barrett did a great job... All the games of "Eye Spy" (his fav) must of paid off, as he spotted the eggs from a mile away!!
This is Brandt with his "Something about Mary" hair do...we did get a haircut yesterday, thank goodness
I couldn't help myself this Spring with the boy's new wardrobes. I just love these shirts from the Gap..It's fun to dress my boys with the clothes that I'd love for my husband to wear..and as he's stuck with the "50 yr old" look (which he's not 50 yet!!!)..It's just not going to happen with him..hello, plaid shirt overdose...so I guess I overcompensate with B and B, and it's so much fun!!

Daddy time
There are two thing the boys are totally INTO right now and that's dragons/dinasours and Daddy. If you ask Barrett what his name is, He'll say "Barrett Dragon"...His imagination is really real right now and he's constantly talking about dragons and caves...The other night the wind was howling while we had the fireplace going and he told us there was "a dragon in the fireplace far far away...."
They are attached to Daddy right now like you wouldn't believe, only Daddy can read the night time books...Scott has switched companies ( a total blessing for us) and he is now required to have a HOME office...so that means we see Daddy in between coffee breaks, conference calls, and pottie breaks, which has caused some total adjusting in our household, but it now seems like we are getting in a routine. Once Scott gets his division up and rolling he'll be traveling even more than before, probably about the time the baby gets here..gee, what timing!!! But we are very proud of Daddy and the life style he has given us..we're enjoying our time with him while we have him around!!!

Eat your heart out girls....
FORE!!!
A couple of weeks ago, we took the boys out for their first experience on the golf course. They had gotten golf clubs from Grandpa and Grandma B. for Christmas so we thought it would be a great day to try them out....I belonged to the 9 hole golf club at our Country Club in Kansas City, but honestly hadn't picked up a golf club since Brandt had been born..so it was a little scary, well a lot scary, but by the end of our "session", I was smacking them pretty well and I've got the "golf bug" back!!!! I guess this would be a good time to tell you I have a leopard golf bag, hugh???? and a pink glove????
Daddy and the boys driving around, they thought the golf cart was pretty cool....
Yeah...!!!! I hit it...We already knew this, but Barrett is our athlete, Brandt on the other hand is more of a computer-geek-book-worm type, but he tried his best and that's all we wish for....
Barrett not only got his Daddy's athletic ability, he is also a little compulsive about things being in order...I guess that's a good thing....
Daddy grew up playing golf, so he's got all the right moves...Barrett just took to the golf club, right away, he was so cute, they are asking all the time if they can go hit balls now...we love it..it's a great way to spend family time together, work on our game a little, and teach the boys new things...I just love experiencing new things with the boys, it's the best feeling in the world.....
